Francis Kinloch Huger letters, 1826.

The two letters written in Pendleton and dated September 11, 1826 and October 13, 1826 in this collection pertain to Mr. Huger's attempt to end a misunderstanding between Thomas G. Simons and Francis Quash. Written on the September 11 letter are two notes by Mr. Simons concerning his reply to the letter. These letters are photocopies made by Mary Stevenson from the original letters in the South Carolina Historicla Society Library in Charleston, SC.

Francis Kinloch Huger was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in September, 1773, and died there in 1855. At the age of eight, he was sent to study in England, remaining abroad until he had finished his education and medical studies. He continued his medical studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and received his M.D. He returned to South Carolina and became a planter in Santee rather than practicing medicine.
